Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on Friday, participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Caucus meeting in Ekiti, putting to rest speculations about his alleged defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Fayemi took to his official X handle to share insights from the meeting, describing it as a valuable moment to reconnect with party leaders and assess the progress of the APC in the state.

“I attended the APC State Caucus meeting in Ekiti, hosted at the residence of His Excellency Otunba Niyi Adebayo in Iyin Ekiti. It was a great opportunity to engage with fellow party leaders and key stakeholders, reflect on our collective achievements, and share ideas on strengthening our unity and impact,” he stated.

He also praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his impressive governance and dedication to the state’s development, applauding the cohesion among party members.

“Governor Oyebanji has shown outstanding commitment and performance in leading Ekiti. He deserves our full support to continue the excellent work he’s doing for our party and the people. It was uplifting to witness the discipline, unity, and shared vision among members. I remain confident in what we can achieve together,” Fayemi added.

Recall that Fayemi had earlier, on March 10, debunked claims suggesting he was planning to dump the ruling party.

“I’ve noticed reports circulating online about my alleged defection from the APC. Let me reiterate — I am a founding member of this party and that has not changed,” he clarified.

However, he stressed the importance of deepening internal democracy within the APC.

“While I have always advocated for greater inclusion and internal reforms within the party, I still believe it’s not too late for the APC to chart a better path forward,” Fayemi emphasized.
