Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as deeply unfortunate and disappointing.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, April 18, 2025, Fayose warned that the PDP could face total collapse if swift and genuine reconciliation efforts are not undertaken.

He attributed the party’s current turmoil to unresolved internal disputes, selfish ambitions, and a lack of cohesive leadership.

Calling for unity and a renewed commitment to rebuilding the party, Fayose stressed that it would take nothing short of a miracle to restore the PDP to its former glory.

“The state of the party is truly regrettable,” he said. “These issues didn’t start today. The PDP has failed to initiate genuine reconciliation or healing processes. Right now, it’s every man for himself—power struggles everywhere, no teamwork.

“Everyone’s just protecting their own interests—their ‘tea, cup, and position.’ When you sweep with one broom, it has no effect. That’s how we are right now—ineffective and scattered.

“It’s clear that things are not well with the PDP. And frankly, only a miracle can take us to where we once dreamed to be.”

Fayose also addressed the leadership crisis plaguing the party’s National Working Committee, questioning its functionality.

“Where is the unity? Show me the leadership. Where are the commands and directions coming from? This has never happened before in the party,” he said. “Still, I’m not here to point fingers. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the Working Committee.”
