The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as the dates for the local 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination for eligible civil servants.
According to Ireporter Online, the examination schedule was contained in a circular dated September 8, 2026, issued by the commission under reference number FC.6243/GOV/2026/VOL.III/22.
The commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Zakariyya, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abuja.
The FCSC said the promotion examination would be conducted in two phases, covering candidates participating in both the local and foreign legs of the exercise.
The local examination is scheduled to hold from September 21 to September 23 at designated centres across the country’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.
Candidates in the North-Central zone are expected to write the examination in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while Kaduna, Kaduna State, will serve as the centre for the North-West zone.
Bauchi, Bauchi State, has been designated as the examination centre for candidates from the North-East, while Port Harcourt, Rivers State, will host candidates from the South-South zone.
Ibadan, Oyo State, will serve as the South-West centre, while candidates from the South-East will sit for the examination in Enugu, Enugu State.
Abuja will serve as the examination centre for candidates from the Federal Capital Territory and also host the headquarters of the commission.
The commission advised all accredited candidates to carefully verify the information on their examination identity cards before the exercise.
Candidates have also been directed to report at their assigned centres by 7:00 a.m. on the date indicated on their examination cards.
The FCSC warned that candidates would only be allowed to take the examination at the centres specifically assigned to them, urging them not to appear at alternative venues.
The commission further urged candidates to prepare adequately and confirm their examination details ahead of the exercise.
It also advised participants to arrive early at their respective centres to avoid delays or other issues that could affect their participation in the promotion examination.
