First Lady Disburses N1.85bn To Support 37,000 Women Traders Across Nigeria

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, launched a significant economic empowerment initiative on Thursday aimed at supporting female traders across the country. The program, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, provides a N1.85 billion grant to 37,000 women petty traders.

The grants will see 1,000 women from each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory receive N50,000 each. The ceremony, which took place in Abuja, was coordinated simultaneously across the nation, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises.

Represented by the FCT Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs, Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, Tinubu emphasized that the grants are intended to help women overcome business hurdles, expand their enterprises, and contribute to economic growth.
