According to Ireporter Online, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on Christian leaders to prioritize preaching the true gospel of Christ over merely delivering motivational messages. She made the remarks on Friday while receiving Dr. Michael Oh, Global Executive Chairman of the Lausanne Movement, and members of his delegation at her Abuja office.

Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the important role people of faith play in supporting national development, noting that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to rebuilding Nigeria’s foundation for future generations. She urged Christians to lead exemplary lives, remain spiritually prepared for the coming of Christ, and mentor younger generations in moral and spiritual values.

“We as Christian leaders and followers should be watchmen, living our lives in readiness for the coming of Christ and guiding younger generations in virtues,” she said.

The First Lady emphasized that the current administration is focused on establishing a strong foundation for the country, adding that visionary leadership and shared responsibility can drive societal transformation. Drawing parallels with President Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State governor, she said, “This is just like what we met when he was Governor of Lagos State, and the story is different today in the state. This task will be much easier with more religious understanding.”

Dr. Michael Oh, who described the Lausanne Movement as a global evangelical initiative founded in 1974 by evangelist Billy Graham, underscored that evangelism extends beyond church pulpits. He noted that the real gospel is lived out in everyday life—in politics, homes, and workplaces. “There is only one per cent of us Christians in the world who are evangelists and preachers, but the real gospel will be preached by the remaining 99 per cent through our conduct,” he said.

Dr. Oh commended the First Lady for her leadership and faith-driven service, describing her as “the Esther of her generation.” He urged Christians to lead with humility, service, and love, adding that Africa holds a central role in the future of global Christianity. “Africa is the future of global evangelism and indeed the next leader of global Christianity,” he said.
