Fresh Trouble: Angela Okorie Rearrested After Gaining Freedom

According to Ireporter Online, officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have rearrested Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, shortly after her release from the Suleja Correctional Centre.

The development reportedly occurred just hours after Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop raised concerns over an alleged plan to take the actress back into custody following her release from prison.

Reacting to the situation in a video shared on Instagram, fellow actress Doris Ogala disclosed that Okorie was rearrested on Tuesday over an alleged refusal to pay the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who facilitated her bail. Ogala explained that the legal practitioner was reportedly engaged through an intermediary and had charged a fee of N5 million for securing the bail.

She further alleged that after gaining her freedom, Okorie insisted she did not personally request the services of a SAN and was therefore unwilling to pay the agreed legal fees, despite claims that payment had already been deposited on her behalf. Ogala stated that she was on her way to the police station at the time of making the video.

It would be recalled that the actress was initially arrested on January 26 in Lagos before being flown to Abuja, where she was arraigned before the Federal High Court on charges bordering on cyberstalking and cyberbullying.

The charges followed a petition reportedly filed against her by her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie.
