From Studio To Courtroom: Ayo Maff Sued By Record Label In Shocking Legal Showdown

Fast-rising Nigerian singer Ayo Maff is entangled in a brewing legal battle with his record label, TunesBid Limited, over what the label describes as a serious breach of their exclusive recording contract

In a public statement shared across social media, TunesBid accused Ayo Maff and his management team — comprising Oyefeso Oluwamayowa Olumide, Okolie Amobi Chiedu, and Oyefeso Ayotunde — of engaging in behind-the-scenes dealings with Empire Distribution, despite the label’s substantial investment in the artist’s career.

This includes funding singles like “Street Anthem,” “7 Days,” and “Dealer,” and securing a high-profile distribution deal with Empire, all within the first seven months of the agreement signed in December 2023.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the label claims that despite multiple mediation efforts, Ayo Maff and his team began acting in bad faith — ignoring contractual obligations, cutting off communication, and even sending letters in May 2024 signaling their intent to pull out of the agreement.

The label said this move came just months into a binding deal, which also required the delivery of EPs and albums as part of the artist’s output obligations.

TunesBid revealed that as the dispute escalated, they had no choice but to pursue legal redress through their legal counsel, Zaeda Oracle, and issued a warning to third parties: anyone engaging Ayo Maff or his management, OceanStreet Creative Limited, without proper authorization, risks facing legal consequences.

In addition, the label specifically called out entertainment groups allegedly organizing unauthorized performances and shows featuring the artist. These include RoadMan Ent., AfroVibes Sheffield Ent., and 1XMedia Ent., among others.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the company stressed that the contract with Ayo Maff remains valid and enforceable, and any denial of its terms is both “false and misleading.” They emphasized that all parties, including show organizers and promoters, should steer clear of unauthorized dealings with the artist or face the “full wrath of the law.”

When contacted, Ayotunde Oyefeso, Ayo Maff’s manager, confirmed to the media that “the matter is in court already.”
