Fubara Reshuffles Rivers Cabinet, Moves Sports Commissioner To Justice Ministry
According to Ireporter Online, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a fresh adjustment to his cabinet, redeploying the Commissioner for Sports Development, Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
The decision was reached during the final State Executive Council meeting of the year held in Port Harcourt, marking another phase of administrative realignment within the state government.
The development comes in the wake of an earlier cabinet reshuffle prompted by the Supreme Court judgment on the political crisis in Rivers State, which led to changes affecting key members of the executive council, including the former Attorney General.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications confirmed Green’s new role, noting that he will oversee the Ministry of Justice while retaining supervisory responsibility for the Ministry of Sports Development until a substantive commissioner is appointed.
The government explained that the redeployment is aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and maintaining effective service delivery across both ministries as the state transitions into the new year.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that what he described as a “leadership mistake” in Rivers State would be addressed in the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement during a thank-you visit to residents of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he expressed appreciation for their continued support.
He emphasized that his visit was not politically motivated but intended to thank the people for standing by him and President Bola Tinubu, adding that elected leaders are expected to uphold the will of the people rather than pursue personal interests.
