Full Transcript Of Tinubu’s Address At The Biography Launch Of Late Muhammadu Buhari
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday attended the official launch of the biography of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, held at the State Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Ireporter Online, the event drew prominent political figures, government officials, and members of the Buhari family, as the president delivered a reflective address celebrating the life, leadership, and legacy of his predecessor.
In his remarks, President Tinubu described Buhari as a leader defined by discipline, integrity, and quiet strength, noting that his public service was anchored on the belief that leadership is a trust rather than a privilege. He extended the nation’s condolences to the former president’s widow, Aisha Buhari, and the entire family, assuring them that Buhari’s name would continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.
Tinubu, who recalled his long political partnership with Buhari, reflected on their shared journey that culminated in the historic 2015 election, which reshaped Nigeria’s democratic landscape. He noted that the political coalition they formed during that period had grown into one of the fastest-expanding political movements on the continent.
The president explained that the newly launched biography offers an honest account of Buhari’s life, documenting both accomplishments and shortcomings, and emphasized that such balanced storytelling is essential for preserving national memory and guiding future leaders.
Highlighting Buhari’s legacy, Tinubu pointed to his personal humility and modest lifestyle, his focus on strengthening national security, his commitment to long-term infrastructure development, and his emphasis on social welfare programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable citizens. He stressed that these principles remain relevant and must be sustained by successive administrations.
President Tinubu further noted that Buhari’s consistency, sense of duty, and personal honesty earned him respect even among critics, adding that nation-building requires cooperation beyond political differences. He urged Nigerians to uphold responsible governance and maintain honourable politics in keeping with Buhari’s values.
The president commended the author of the biography for preserving an accurate and thoughtful account of Buhari’s life, expressing hope that the book would reach young Nigerians and inspire them as they shape their own leadership paths.
Concluding his address, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to building on Buhari’s legacy through disciplined and compassionate leadership, while offering prayers for the repose of the former president’s soul and continued unity and progress for Nigeria.
