Funke Akindele: Bimbo Thomas Recounts Robbery Attack During Movie Shoot

Nollywood actress Bimbo Thomas has recounted a terrifying armed robbery incident she experienced alongside renowned filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele during a late-night movie shoot.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred around midnight while the cast and crew were filming scenes for the popular movie Omo Ghetto. Speaking during an interview, Bimbo revealed that the atmosphere suddenly turned tense after they heard aggressive banging and loud shouts coming from outside their location.

She explained that the group initially attempted to remain calm while trying to understand what was happening, but it soon became clear that they were in imminent danger. Overwhelmed by fear, they reportedly went down on their knees to pray, hoping to avoid harm as the situation escalated.

Bimbo disclosed that armed men eventually forced their way into the room and began demanding to see Funke Akindele. When the attackers threatened severe consequences if Funke did not reveal herself, the actress courageously stepped forward. She was then taken outside, leaving the others behind in a state of shock and uncertainty.

According to the account, Funke was compelled by the attackers to sing and dance to lines from Omo Ghetto, a moment that underscored the gravity and humiliation of the ordeal. Shortly afterward, gunshots were heard nearby, further heightening fear among those still inside.

The situation reportedly ended when Funke seized an opportunity to escape, running toward the generator area where she encountered an injured security guard who assisted her by providing a cover. That moment marked the conclusion of what Bimbo described as a long and harrowing experience.

Reflecting on the incident, Bimbo Thomas expressed gratitude for survival, noting that the experience highlighted the serious risks sometimes faced in the line of work.
