Gbajabiamila Announces Needs-Based Approach For 2025 Budget Allocation

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has announced that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be determined by a comprehensive needs assessment. This approach aims to ensure that financial allocations are aligned with actual requirements, reflecting a prioritization of resources.

Gbajabiamila made this statement during a press briefing in Abuja, following a fact-finding tour of several government agencies under the State House. He emphasized the necessity of aligning the budget with the practical needs of each agency rather than providing arbitrary funding.

“In any country, resources are limited. Our focus must be on prioritizing where we are now, evaluating the performance of these agencies, and understanding their mandates within the vision of this administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Gbajabiamila said.

He also touched upon the need to evaluate the effectiveness of current funding and consider potential restructuring, including the possibility of merging or scrapping some agencies if necessary.

Gbajabiamila’s visit included the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency, the Bureau of Public Procurement, the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure. During his visit, he pledged improvements in staff welfare and emphasized the importance of transparency in procurement processes to uphold good governance and accountability.

The Chief of Staff was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hadeija, Permanent Secretary Olufunso Adebiyi, and Senior Special Assistant Mrs. Oyinade Nathan-Marsh.

This approach signals a move towards a more evidence-based and needs-focused budgeting process, aiming to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the State House agencies.
