The governor emphasized the abundance of accomplished elders and former leaders within the state, individuals who have reached the zenith of their careers and remain actively engaged and healthy.

The newly formed Council of Elders comprises a distinguished lineup, including former Governors, Deputy Governors, Senate Presidents, Speakers of the House of Representatives, Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Deputy Speakers, retired Supreme Court justices, retired Appeal Court justices, former Chief Justices of the state, former Secretaries to the State Government, and former Heads of State Civil Service, all of whom are indigenous to Kano State.

Furthermore, the council extends its membership to encompass leaders of the Ulamas, representatives from the business community, traditional rulers, former heads of security agencies from Kano State, and other eminent elders to be identified and appointed by the government.

Governor Abba Yusuff underscored the wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and experience possessed by these esteemed elders. He expressed his administration’s deliberate intent to tap into their versatile expertise for the overall benefit of the state.
