According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday hosted Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where both leaders held a closed-door discussion. The meeting took place shortly after Soludo arrived at the State House for a courtesy visit.

A statement issued on Friday by Chris Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Anambra governor, noted that President Tinubu warmly welcomed Soludo, describing him as a trusted friend of over two decades. He also reiterated his congratulations to the governor on his sweeping victory in the recent Anambra governorship election.

Aburime recalled that the President had earlier sent an official congratulatory message immediately after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Soludo winner with 73 percent of the total votes cast.

The visit comes just days after Governor Soludo presented a ₦757 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Anambra State House of Assembly. He explained that the financial plan reflects his administration’s renewed commitment to fast-tracking development across the state.

The budget, titled “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” allocates ₦595.3 billion—or 79 percent—to capital projects, underscoring Soludo’s focus on an infrastructure-driven governance model. Recurrent expenditure is pegged at ₦161.6 billion, representing 21 percent of the total outlay.

Governor Soludo further disclosed that the proposed budget carries a deficit of ₦225.7 billion, which the state intends to fund through improved internally generated revenue, public-private partnerships, concessions, and interventions from financial institutions.
