Governor Yusuf Appoints Fresh Political Adviser
According to Ireporter Online, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Mustapha Buhari Bakwana as his new Political Adviser, describing him as a loyal and committed ally whose political experience will further strengthen the administration.
The appointment was announced on Saturday at the Government House, Kano, during an event where the governor distributed 800 motorcycles to journalists and social media influencers as part of efforts to enhance media engagement and coverage of government activities.
Bakwana’s emergence follows the removal of the former Political Adviser, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso. Reports indicate that concerns were raised within government circles over the former adviser’s loyalty, particularly after Governor Yusuf’s recent resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Sources familiar with the development disclosed that the dismissed adviser was perceived to remain politically aligned with the NNPP’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a situation said to be at odds with the governor’s current political direction.
Governor Yusuf explained that Bakwana’s appointment was based on his proven dedication, loyalty, and contributions to the growth of the administration, expressing confidence that his experience would help deepen political engagement and strengthen policy implementation across the state.
The governor also highlighted the importance of the media as a critical partner in governance, noting its role in informing the public and promoting democratic values. He urged beneficiaries of the motorcycles to objectively project the achievements and policies of his administration in the interest of transparency and development.
The motorcycles, according to the governor, were distributed to support journalists and digital media practitioners in effectively carrying out their duties while fostering stronger collaboration between the government and the media.
Some beneficiaries commended the governor for recognizing the role of journalists and social media influencers in governance. One of them, Abubakar Sanusi from Fagge Local Government Area, praised the initiative, assuring that influencers would continue to mobilise residents to spotlight projects and programmes executed by the administration.
