Green Africa Strengthens Leadership With New COO

According to Ireporter Online, Green Africa, the Lagos-based value airline, has announced the appointment of Captain Bart Roberts as its new Chief Operating Officer. Roberts will oversee Flight Operations, the Integrated Operations Control Centre, Operational Safety, Airport Services, and Training.

Bringing over 40 years of experience in global aviation, Roberts joins Green Africa from Cirrus Aircraft in McKinney, Texas, where he served as Executive Director of Flight Training. His previous roles include Vice President of Flight Operations at JetBlue and a 28-year tenure at American Airlines.

Roberts also served in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Captain (O-6). He has contributed to the industry through membership on the International Air Transport Association Operations Council and currently serves on the Board of Women in Aviation International (WAI).

Founder and CEO of Green Africa, Babawande Afolabi, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, noting Roberts’ extensive operational expertise and leadership experience as key assets for the airline’s growth. Roberts described his new role as a privilege and highlighted the potential of Nigeria’s aviation sector, emphasizing his commitment to expanding safe, reliable, and affordable air travel through Green Africa.
