Two Farmers Killed in Fresh Plateau Attack, Community Leaders Demand Justice

Two farmers have reportedly lost their lives following a fresh attack in Margif community, Mushere chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, according to iReporter Online.

The President of the Mushere Youth Movement, Kopmut Monday, described the killings as a barbaric act, calling on security operatives to swiftly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He identified the deceased as Kyargarshak Stephen Gumap and Michael Longs.

According to iReporter Online, one of the victims was said to have been killed while harvesting cocoa yams on his farm, while the other was attacked along the Horop-Kopmur route.

The attackers, believed to be terrorists residing in the Rongjing-Mbor area, allegedly carried out the assaults.

Meanwhile, Saleh Adamu, chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) in Bokkos, stated that his organisation was not aware of the incident.

Efforts to get a response from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) proved unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, did not respond to a message sent by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.

The latest violence adds to a series of attacks that have plagued farming communities in Plateau State in recent months.

According to iReporter Online, local residents are increasingly alarmed over what they describe as unchecked violence and the slow response of security agencies.
