He Married Three Wives To Stop Them From Conspiring Against Him” — Pete Edochie Reveals Uncle’s Strategy

Published

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has shared an unusual account of why his late uncle married three wives, revealing that the man believed having multiple wives would prevent them from jointly conspiring against him.

According to Ireporter Online, Edochie made the revelation during an interview with comedian Isbae U on the online programme Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he reflected on his uncle’s approach to marriage.

The actor explained that his uncle initially married one woman before subsequently taking a second and third wife. Curious about the decision, Edochie said he asked his uncle why he chose to marry three women.

According to the veteran actor, his uncle believed the arrangement would make it difficult for the wives to unite against him. He reportedly reasoned that whenever two of the women discussed something against him, the third would eventually disclose the conversation to him.

Edochie recalled his uncle confidently explaining that the three women could not successfully conspire against him at the same time because one would always reveal what the others had discussed.

The actor said his uncle eventually described himself as being “fully wifed” and comfortable with the arrangement. However, Edochie noted that his uncle died not long after.

Despite sharing the story humorously, the veteran actor made it clear that he does not support the idea of a man marrying multiple wives. He cautioned that he would not advise other men to take more than one wife.

Edochie’s account has since drawn attention to his uncle’s unconventional reasoning for embracing polygamy, while also highlighting the actor’s personal reservations about such an arrangement.
