House Speaker Condemns Barbaric Killing Of Sokoto Monarch, Calls For Justice

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State. The late Sarkin Gobir was reportedly killed in captivity by his kidnappers.

The bandits who abducted Bawa and his son on July 29 have been condemned by Abbas as barbaric and inhumane. The Speaker, through his media aide Musa Krishi, called for justice and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the Sokoto State community.

“The kidnapping and subsequent death of the Sarkin Gobir highlight the grave security challenges we face. I mourn the loss of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and urge the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Abbas said in a statement.

Additionally, Surajo Isa, the son of the deceased, confirmed that a ransom of N60 million and five motorcycles were paid to secure his release. Unfortunately, Bawa’s remains were buried by the bandits, leaving the community and the nation in mourning. The son is now receiving treatment at Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
