How Motivational Speaker’s Advice Almost Led Real Warri Pikin To Suicide Attempt Linked To Husband’s ₦22M Debt

Popular Nigerian comedienne Anita Afoke Asuoha, widely known as Real Warri Pikin, has revealed how a motivational speaker nearly led her to attempt suicide. The entertainer shared this emotional account on her Instagram page on Wednesday in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day.

In her post, Real Warri Pikin recounted how her husband, in 2018, fell into deep financial trouble after taking advice from a motivational speaker. The speaker had encouraged him to explore several business ventures, promising financial success. Unfortunately, instead of achieving wealth, they incurred a debt of ₦22 million, which weighed heavily on their family.

The comedienne confessed that the overwhelming burden of the debt drove her to the brink of suicide. On June 6, 2018, at 3 pm, she attempted to take her own life but was saved when a family member arrived just in time.

“I attempted suicide so you don’t have to. I gave up on life because the burden was too much. Life just hit me from all directions, and I felt like the only way out was to end the pain,” she said in a heartfelt video.

Real Warri Pikin urged her followers not to resort to suicide, reminding them that life consists of different seasons and phases, with tough times eventually passing. She stressed the importance of holding on to faith and taking things step by step, encouraging people to seek support when needed.

“Suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem. Hold on to God and do what is within your power,” she advised.

As part of her World Suicide Prevention Day message, Real Warri Pikin hopes to inspire others to persevere through their struggles and avoid the dark path she once faced.
