I Failed as a Producer!” – Dele Odule Makes Shocking Confession About His Nollywood Journey

Veteran Nollywood actor, Dele Odule, known for his roles in Yoruba-language films, has opened up about his reluctance to venture into movie production due to his challenges with financial management.

In an interview with Oyinmomo, Odule revealed that he prefers acting in other people’s productions rather than handling his own, citing that movie production is a business venture that demands solid money management skills — an area he admits is not his forte.

“I’ve never been a good producer,” he confessed. “A successful producer must know how to manage money well, and that’s not something I’m good at.”

He disclosed that he has produced about 10 movies over the years but cannot confirm whether they were profitable — nor does he know the current whereabouts of their master copies, further emphasizing his struggles in the production aspect of filmmaking.

Despite these setbacks, Odule expressed interest in producing a movie for a larger platform like Netflix or for the cinema, if the opportunity arises.

“Although producing isn’t my strong suit, I’d love to work on a project meant for the cinema or a streaming service like Netflix. I wouldn’t consider anything less than that,” he said.

The seasoned actor also revealed that he was blacklisted from acting for two years, claiming it was due to being perceived as a “threat” in the industry.

“I was blacklisted for two years. I believe it was because some people saw me as a threat and tried to deal with me through blackmail,” Odule shared.
