I May Never Recover” — Wike Mourns Dan Orbih, Speaks On His D**th

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep shock over the death of his political ally, Dan Orbih, saying he is uncertain whether he can recover from the loss.

Wike spoke on Wednesday during his monthly media parley in Rivers State, where he described the late Orbih as a trusted and steadfast ally who remained firm even when subjected to political pressure.

Orbih, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026. His family subsequently announced his passing in a statement issued on behalf of the Orbih family.

Speaking about the deceased, Wike said Orbih was a dependable ally whose strength and firmness stood out throughout their political relationship.

He said, “Dan Orbih was a trusted ally. He was a firm man even when under pressure.

“His death is a big shock to me. I’m not sure if I can recover from the death.”

The Edo State chapter of the PDP has also expressed grief over Orbih’s death, describing his passing as a painful loss to the party and the wider political community.

The party said Orbih played significant roles in its affairs in Edo State, the South-South region and the country at large.

In a statement signed by the Edo State PDP Chairman, Nosa M. Ogieva-Okunbor, and the State Secretary, Hillary Otsu, the party mourned the loss of one of its prominent figures and extended its condolences over his death.
