If I Have Sinned, Forgive Me’ – Tinubu Appeals To Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to forgive him for any wrongs he may have committed against them.

According to Ireporter Online, Tinubu made the appeal while addressing worshippers at a Ramadan Tafsir held at the State House Mosque in Abuja on Wednesday. He urged citizens to forgive one another and work together to promote national harmony.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and moral renewal as Muslims observe the Ramadan fast, noting that forgiveness and compassion are central tenets of the holy month. He described Ramadan as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and a return to values that strengthen society.

“Ramadan reminds us to get closer to God, to do good to people, to share love and faith, and to forgive sins,” Tinubu said. “If I have sinned against you, forgive me. As Nigerians, we must learn to forgive and live in peace with one another.”

He further encouraged citizens to use the period of fasting to foster acts of kindness that contribute to national development.

In a related political discussion, former Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun, claimed that the long-standing feud between Nasir El-Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu was exacerbated by Tinubu’s decision to support Ribadu over El-Rufai ahead of the 2011 presidential election.

Speaking in an interview with ARISE News on Tuesday, Osuntokun explained that tensions between the two politicians date back to the final years of the Olusegun Obasanjo administration but intensified after a public opinion poll commissioned by Tinubu favored Ribadu.

Osuntokun added that Tinubu, having just completed his tenure as Lagos State governor, was seeking a younger northern candidate to support, which contributed to the widening political rift.
