Imo: NDLEA Arrests 60 Drug Suspects, Seizes 646.9 Kg Of Cannabis, Others
Operatives of the Imo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested 60 illicit drug suspects in the state between January and June 2021.
Briefing journalists in his office in Owerri, yesterday, to commemorate year 2021 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, the State Commander, Nse J. Inam, disclosed that out of the number arrested, 55 are males while five are females, adding that they were aged between 17 and 60 years.
According to Inam, 646.936 kg of cannabis, sativa, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and tramadol were seized by the Command within the period under review.
He also disclosed that the Federal Government Special Boarder Task Force also transferred 4,784kg of Cannabis Savita to the Command during the period.
His words: “Our professional activities from January 2021 to date also yielded the following results: 60 drug suspects, comprising 55 males and five females were arrested. This implies that those in the active population bracket that should have engaged in a more useful and productive venture are the ones involved in these illicit drug activities.”
