Iran Strikes UAE Airports With Missiles And Drones, Tensions Surge

At least one person has died and several others were injured after major airports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were struck during a wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks late Saturday. According to Ireporter Online, the attacks targeted critical aviation hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, causing panic and temporarily suspending flight operations.

In a statement posted on on Sunday, Abu Dhabi Airports confirmed casualties following what it described as an “incident” linked to the interception of a drone aimed at Zayed International Airport. “Authorities in Abu Dhabi are responding to an incident resulting from the interception of a drone that targeted Zayed International Airport. The interception led to falling debris, which resulted in one fatality of an Asian national and seven injuries,” the statement said. The agency urged the public to rely solely on official sources and announced that further updates would be provided.

Emergency responders were quickly deployed to treat the injured and secure affected areas. Authorities also reported that four individuals sustained injuries at Dubai International Airport (DXB) as flight operations were suspended while officials assessed the situation.

Although the full extent of structural damage has not been disclosed, reports indicate that fragments from intercepted missiles and drones caused limited destruction near airport facilities and nearby residential areas. UAE air defence forces engaged dozens of missiles and drones launched by Iran, with most of the projectiles successfully intercepted. Debris from destroyed drones and missiles, however, still fell across parts of the country, resulting in casualties and property damage.

The nation’s airspace was temporarily closed, and flights at major airports were halted, leaving thousands of travelers stranded and forcing airlines to cancel or delay scheduled services. According to Ireporter Online, the strikes represent part of a broader escalation in the Middle East, reportedly in retaliation for previous U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
