Vice-President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound grief over the death of former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most visionary leaders whose passing marks an irreplaceable loss to the nation’s agricultural transformation and development journey.

According to Ireporter Online, Shettima made the remarks on Monday in Abuja when he led a Federal Government delegation to condole with the family of the late elder statesman, who died peacefully on Saturday at the age of 78.

He said Ogbeh’s monumental contributions to food security and rural development would remain permanently inscribed in Nigeria’s history.

The vice-president paid glowing tribute to Ogbeh, noting that he was a rare statesman whose dedication to agricultural renaissance touched millions of farming families across the country.

“We have not just lost a former minister; we have lost an irreplaceable institution whose vision and pragmatic approach to agricultural development transformed our farming communities,” Shettima said.

According to Ireporter Online, Shettima further described the late Ogbeh as a transformational leader whose influence transcended political and regional boundaries, adding that his leadership principles now serve as a blueprint for sustainable agricultural growth in Nigeria.

He noted that Ogbeh’s integrity, dedication, and commitment to the welfare of farmers were defining qualities that earned him national respect.

The vice-president also emphasised that Ogbeh was an unwavering advocate of agricultural transformation, respected for his wisdom, pragmatism, and deep concern for rural communities.

“His demise represents a collective loss to our entire agricultural ecosystem,” Shettima lamented.

Offering prayers for the repose of his soul, Shettima expressed confidence that Ogbeh’s legacy would inspire future generations of agricultural leaders and policymakers.

According to Ireporter Online, he assured that the values of service, integrity, and dedication championed by the late minister would continue to guide Nigeria’s agricultural reforms.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Ogbeh eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus and for strength to be bestowed upon his family, the government and people of Benue State, and the entire nation to bear the loss.
