Jos Attack: ‘Venue Doesn’t Matter’ – Mutfwang Backs Tinubu’s Airport Meeting

According to Ireporter Online, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed criticisms surrounding the logistics of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state, following the recent Jos attack that claimed at least 28 lives.

Speaking on Channels Television, Mutfwang emphasized that the venue of the president’s meeting with victims was secondary to the substance of the engagement. “The venue is not as important as the substance. The President came, met with the people, and demonstrated concern. That is what matters,” he said.

The governor described the attack as a disturbing departure from previous incidents, which were largely confined to rural areas. He explained that the assailants operated in a highly organized manner, hooded and with professional marksmanship, misleading residents and security personnel who initially assumed the incident was a routine operation.

Mutfwang confirmed that no arrests had been made yet but assured that security agencies were acting on actionable intelligence to apprehend the perpetrators. He also cautioned against premature speculation regarding the attackers’ identities and motives.

Referring to a separate incident in Wase Local Government Area, Mutfwang noted that bandits ambushed a security contingent on lawful duty, resulting in the deaths of three officers and several other personnel. He described both incidents as premeditated and deliberately orchestrated to instill fear among the populace.
