Joshua Targets July Comeback As Riyadh Season Eyes Explosive Fury Clash

According to Ireporter Online, British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua could return to the ring as early as July under a proposed two-fight arrangement linked to Riyadh Season, as revealed by promoter Eddie Hearn.

Joshua, a former unified heavyweight champion, has been inactive since December, when he recorded a knockout victory in his last bout. The boxer has since resumed full training and was recently spotted ringside during Tyson Fury’s comeback win over Arslanbek Makhmudov, further fueling speculation about a long-anticipated showdown between both fighters.

Hearn disclosed that discussions are progressing toward an interim fight scheduled for July, followed by a potential mega-fight against Fury in November. Although Deontay Wilder had been considered as a possible opponent following his recent call-out of Joshua, the matchup now appears unlikely due to the perceived risk level involved.

According to Hearn, the proposed deal—fronted by Turki Alalshikh, Ring, and Riyadh Season—is structured with the Fury clash positioned as the headline event.

He added that while Wilder remains a viable opponent under normal promotional circumstances, the current arrangement prioritizes the Fury fight as the ultimate goal of the deal.
