JUST IN: Buhari Makes Powerful Appointments (FULL LIST)

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman as Chairman of the new Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI).

According to a statement issued last night by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Chairman, who is also a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will serve on a part-time basis.

Mr. Olawale Edun, Hajiya Fatima Mede, Ike Chioke, Muhammad Nda, and Barrister Alheri Bulus Nyako were also appointed to the board.

The board’s institutional non-executive members included the Permanent Secretaries of Finance and Petroleum, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and a representative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Mr. President also named Dr. Armstrong Katang as CEO, Eric Ojo as Portfolio Executive Director, Sani Yakubu as Investment Executive Director, and Oluwakemi Owonubi as Risk Executive Director.

According to a statement signed by Mr. Tanko Abdullahi, Special Adviser, Media & Communications, to the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, all of the above individuals were identified as having key competencies to drive the achievement of MOFI’s governance and management objectives.

It went on to say that the board of directors would provide strategic direction and oversight, while the executive management team would drive the business’s effective day-to-day operations, with support from the middle management team.

Mr. President will inaugurate the MOFI Governing Council at a later date.

MOFI is a corporation tasked with managing all federal government investments, interests, estates, easements, and rights.
