According to Ireporter Online, worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igbala, Eda Oniyo-Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, who were abducted during a violent attack on April 28, 2026, have regained their freedom after 67 days in captivity.

The victims were reportedly released late Friday night, bringing an end to weeks of anxiety and anguish for their families and the affected community. They were immediately taken to a medical facility in Eda Oniyo upon arrival for urgent medical evaluation and treatment to address both physical injuries and psychological trauma sustained during their ordeal.

The worshippers were kidnapped when armed assailants stormed a church revival programme at a prayer mountain in Eda Oniyo-Ekiti, opening fire during the service and killing a pastor before whisking away about 15 congregants into a nearby forest.

A community leader confirmed on Saturday that the abductees had been released after several weeks in captivity, describing the development as a relief to the community, though he also revealed that one of the victims did not survive the ordeal, a development he described as deeply tragic for the bereaved family and residents.
