The court found Inuwa guilty of tampering with a N1,000 note, in violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007. She faced a single charge relating to the misuse and defacing of the naira, stemming from an incident that occurred in 2022.

Prosecutors stated that Inuwa had soiled the N1,000 note by using her nose, an act prohibited under Section 21(1) of the CBN Act. When the charge was read, the actress admitted to the offence. The prosecuting lawyer, Musa Isah, requested that the court apply the law, while Inuwa pleaded for leniency, citing her clean prior record and expressing regret for her actions.

After considering both sides, Justice Shuaibu sentenced Inuwa to six months in prison. The court, however, allowed her the option to pay a fine of N200,000 in lieu of serving the jail term.
