According to Ireporter Online, the Kano State Government has unveiled plans to install toll gates on major highways leading into the metropolis, aiming to enhance security monitoring and strengthen the state’s socio-economic framework.

The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by Adamu Abdullahi, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Housing Development, and shared with journalists in Kano. The initiative is designed to improve surveillance of vehicular movement into the city and reinforce security at strategic entry points.

The planned toll gate locations include Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Kano-Daura Road, and Hadejia Road, all of which serve as key routes connecting the metropolis with neighboring states. Officials noted that these roads were chosen due to their strategic importance as primary access corridors into the commercial hub.

Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, Commissioner for Housing Development, officially handed over the seven project sites to contractors, marking the commencement of construction. The commissioner emphasized that the toll gates would function as strategic control points to regulate and document vehicular inflow, reflecting the administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through structured monitoring and improved infrastructure.
