Addressing the press at the command headquarters in Bompai on Wednesday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, revealed that the operation led to the dismantling of a network involved in smuggling firearms into the state. Among the items recovered were 19 locally fabricated revolver rifles, 114 live cartridges, six used cartridges, and an assortment of illicit drugs valued at N150 million.

Providing a detailed breakdown, CP Bakori stated that between March 17 and the present date, the police intensified intelligence-led operations, 24-hour patrols, and strategic collaborations with local communities, all of which contributed to the successful arrests and seizures.

The suspects arrested include:

• 24 for armed robbery,

• 14 for drug trafficking,

• 28 for theft,

• 79 identified as gang members (Yan Daba),

• 7 for motor vehicle theft, and

• 5 for motorcycle theft.

Recovered items from the suspects include:

• 2 English-made pistols,

• 1 locally fabricated pistol,

• 117 live cartridges,

• 11 live rounds of ammunition,

• Large quantities of tramadol tablets worth approximately N150 million,

• 57 cutlasses,

• 71 knives,

• 15 sharpened iron rods (locally known as Dan Bida),

• 7 pairs of scissors,

• 2 axes, and

• 1 bow.

CP Bakori emphasized the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security through community-based engagement and strategic crime prevention measures. He also commended residents for their continued support and urged the public to remain vigilant and proactive by providing credible information to help combat emerging threats.
