Kano Private School Shut, Teacher Remanded Over Alleged S3xual Abuse Of Pupils

The development follows a magistrate court order remanding a teacher identified as “Uncle Kamal” over allegations bordering on the abuse of four minor pupils.

Bilyaminu stated that the decision to shut down the school was necessary to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation, stressing that the local government would not tolerate any form of misconduct or abuse against children under its jurisdiction.

He emphasized that safeguarding the welfare and rights of children remains a top priority for the council, adding that any individual or institution found culpable of violating such rights would be made to face the full weight of the law.

According to the council chairman, the closure is intended to support ongoing investigations, ensure accountability, and guarantee justice for the victims involved.

The teacher was arraigned before a magistrate court on Monday, with prosecution counsel Badamasi Gandu informing the court that medical examinations conducted on the minors indicated evidence of assault.

The alleged victims were identified as four children aged seven and five.

Following the hearing, the court ordered that the accused be remanded in a correctional facility, with the case adjourned until June 6 for further proceedings.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents and parents in the area, with growing calls for a comprehensive and transparent investigation.

Bilyaminu reaffirmed the council’s commitment to collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure that educational institutions remain safe environments for children.

He further warned that the local government would not hesitate to take decisive action against any person or institution found negligent in the protection of minors.

The closure of Al-Hadeed Private School, according to the council, will remain in effect pending further directives from the appropriate authorities.
