Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano South Senatorial District have made a formal appeal to Senator Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila to return to the party.

Senator Sumaila, who currently represents Kano South in the Senate under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), is being urged to return to the APC due to his perceived political influence and ability to strengthen the party’s presence in the region.
“There is no doubt that Senator Sumaila’s return would significantly benefit the APC. His presence would foster unity and energize party activities across Kano South,” Hungu stated.
Highlighting Sumaila’s wide-reaching appeal and reputation for inclusivity, Hungu described him as a leader who builds bridges across political divides. “Even though he is no longer a member of the APC, he continues to maintain cordial relationships with politicians across party lines,” he noted.
The APC stakeholders called on prominent figures within the party— including current and former lawmakers from Kano South, the APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Kano State APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas— to help persuade Senator Sumaila to consider their appeal.
“We are confident that his return will play a vital role in strengthening the APC not just in Kano South, but across the state,” Hungu added. “We miss his leadership and dedication, and we believe the party will benefit immensely from his active involvement once again.”
Emphasizing Sumaila’s commitment to grassroots development and the welfare of constituents, Hungu concluded by saying, “Senator Sumaila is unmatched in his contributions to Kano South. His return would be a welcome boost to our collective efforts to grow and unify the APC in this region.”
