“Kebbi Governor Breaks Silence: ‘Not A Kobo Paid For Schoolgirls’ Freedom’”

According to Ireporter Online, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Tuesday welcomed the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, confirming that all of them were safely recovered and in stable condition. Speaking to journalists, the governor firmly dismissed speculation that ransom was paid to secure their release, stating that security operatives carried out a comprehensive search that led to the successful rescue.

Governor Idris credited the breakthrough to the directive of President Bola Tinubu, noting that security agencies acted swiftly and in close coordination to track down the abductors. He commended the military, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the police for what he described as a decisive and well-coordinated operation.

He also appreciated religious leaders whose continuous prayers, according to him, provided immense support during the tense period. The governor further acknowledged the solidarity shown by notable Nigerians, saying the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, along with APC governors and the Inspector General of Police, boosted morale across the state.

Idris expressed deep admiration for the parents of the rescued girls, praising their patience, resilience and trust in the government throughout the difficult episode.
