Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has confirmed the successful rescue of 163 residents abducted during the terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.

According to Ireporter Online, the victims were freed by security operatives during a coordinated operation in the Kainji Lake National Park Forest. The same mission also secured the release of about 145 abducted persons from neighbouring Niger State.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support and commitment to the rescue effort, commending the President’s role in ensuring the victims regained their freedom.

He also praised the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force for their professionalism, resilience and collaboration, which he said contributed significantly to the success of the operation.

The governor noted that the rescued victims are currently receiving comprehensive medical treatment and necessary care at a federal health facility. He explained that the Kwara State Government would formally receive them after they are certified medically fit, after which reintegration and rehabilitation support would be provided to help them return to normal life.

AbdulRazaq further appealed to residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence capable of preventing future attacks.

He also acknowledged the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen security in the state through the deployment of additional military personnel and equipment, including the establishment of new military formations.

The governor expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between government authorities, security agencies and local communities would lead to greater success in tackling terrorism and other security threats across the state.
