According to Ireporter Online, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies, urging the immediate arrest and prosecution of the party’s former National Chairman, Julius Abure.

Speaking on Monday at the party’s Abuja secretariat, the Nenadi Usman-led leadership questioned why Abure continues to move freely despite alleged criminal actions. The party accused Abure and his associates of violently attacking the secretariat, threatening staff, and destroying billboards and property bearing the face of Interim National Chairman Nenadi Usman.

The Labour Party further alleged that laptops, financial documents, and sensitive materials were removed during the operation, which reportedly lasted over 30 minutes. In a statement, the party said: “We demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of Julius Abure and others for criminal invasion, contempt of court, impersonation, and threats to constitutional democracy in Nigeria.”

The party emphasized that Nigeria operates under a constitutional democracy where laws must prevail, warning that Abure’s actions represent a “disturbing pattern of impunity and disregard for lawful authority.” The LP said security agencies responded to their request, providing coverage on February 10, 2026, for a peaceful resumption of operations at the national secretariat.

According to the party, Abure and his associates later confirmed their actions through social media posts and subsequent press statements issued from undisclosed locations, which the LP described as a misrepresentation of facts and continued defiance of judicial pronouncements and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
