Leaders Unite In Grief: Tinubu, Alia, Kalu, Akume Honour The Departed

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, respected former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to IReporter Online.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended condolences to the government and people of Benue State, as well as to Ogbeh’s family, friends, and associates.

Ogbeh, who died at the age of 78, was a towering figure in Nigerian politics, having served as Minister of Communications during the Second Republic and later as Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Tinubu praised his intellectual depth, practical policy solutions, and unwavering patriotism, noting that Nigeria would miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience.

Other prominent leaders also mourned the elder statesman. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu described Ogbeh as a man of “uncommon wisdom, humility, and integrity,” while the Northern Governors’ Forum hailed him as “a statesman of uncommon intellect” whose service to the nation left an indelible mark.

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, called Ogbeh’s life “successful and fulfilled,” urging his people to take comfort in the legacy he left behind, according to IReporter Online.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, paid a condolence visit to Ogbeh’s Abuja residence, describing him as a “consummate public servant” and “promoter of peace and justice.”

The Arewa Consultative Forum, where Ogbeh served as Chairman from 2020 to 2023, also honoured his contributions as a nationalist, farmer, and political leader.

Business leader Festus Mbisiogu shared a personal tribute, recalling how Ogbeh mentored him, encouraged him to invest in Nigeria, and supported his entrepreneurial journey.

He described the late statesman as a visionary leader whose selfless dedication to national progress inspired countless others, according to IReporter Online.
