Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has no intention of contesting the 2027 presidential election.

According to reports, Fayose stated that Makinde personally assured him he would not allow himself to be used against President Bola Tinubu in the coming polls. He made the disclosure during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, where he shared details of a recent conversation with Makinde.

Fayose explained that he had come across a social media advert suggesting that Makinde was eyeing the presidency. Concerned, he forwarded it to the Oyo Governor, who promptly denied any involvement or interest.

“In all fairness to Makinde, when I saw the campaign material online, I sent it to him,” Fayose said. “He called me back and clearly said he’s not running and knows nothing about those posters. He hasn’t said otherwise since then.

“I won’t speak for him beyond what he told me. As his brother, I take him at his word. He made it clear he will not allow himself to be used against a fellow Yoruba man who is president. As it stands, Seyi Makinde is not running for president—unless something changes.”
