Man Allegedly Kills Wife Over Ramadan Meal Dispute

The Bauchi State Police Command is investigating the tragic death of a 24-year-old woman, reportedly beaten to death by her 50-year-old husband during an argument over the preparation of a Ramadan meal. According to the police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakili, the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM on March 1, 2025, in Fadamam Mada, Bauchi. The suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a businessman at the Bauchi Central Market, allegedly assaulted his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, after a dispute regarding the food ingredients and fruits for breaking their fast.

The argument turned violent, and Isah is said to have struck Wasila with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness. She was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where she was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police have since arrested Isah and seized the cane used in the assault as evidence. The body of the deceased has been transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy.
