According to Ireporter Online, Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has responded to the recent failed coup attempt involving members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The Defence Headquarters had earlier released a list of 16 officers indicted by a Special Investigative Panel for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu.

Commenting on the development, Igbokwe emphasized that the president is serious about his administration. He stated on Facebook that those who believe Tinubu is not decisive are mistaken, adding that the government is committed to reworking, repositioning, and restoring the nation.

Igbokwe also addressed concerns surrounding the detention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. He alleged that some individuals are exploiting Kanu’s imprisonment for personal gain, including members of IPOB, certain lawyers, and online content creators. Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment on November 20, 2025, by the Federal High Court in Abuja after being convicted on seven counts of terrorism and is currently serving his sentence at the Sokoto Correctional Facility.

According to Igbokwe, the situation has turned into a lucrative business for some, as they reportedly use Kanu’s detention to extort money and profit from public agitation surrounding the case.
