Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, Meets with NEDC MD, Charges Agency to Uphold Excellence

The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE , recently hosted a high-level meeting with the Managing Director/CEO of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mr. Mohammed Alkali, and the management team of the Commission. The session served as a familiarization visit and a presentation of the Commission’s achievements to the Ministry of Regional Development.

The meeting, chaired by Engr. Abubakar Momoh, had in attendance the Minister of State for Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore.

During the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Alkali presented an overview of the NEDC’s stewardship since the inception of his administration. The MD outlined the progress made in driving developmental initiatives and unveiled proposals for the Commission’s 2025 agenda.

In his response, Hon. Minister Momoh commended the presentation for its comprehensive insights, noting that while he had yet to undertake a detailed review, the Commission’s efforts so far were commendable. He urged the NEDC to uphold transparency, accountability, and excellence in its operations.

The Minister further emphasized that the Federal Government has ensured consistent funding for the various regional development commissions. He expressed optimism that the coming year should witness significant strides in infrastructure development and impactful projects to address the needs of people across the regions.

The meeting underscored the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the NEDC and other regional development commissions to achieve measurable progress and sustainable growth.
