Minister Urges Patience As Tinubu’s Administration Vows To Transform Nigeria
Minister Highlights Bold Steps as President Tinubu Addresses Economic Challenges, Amidst heightened concerns over Nigeria’s economic challenges, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, called upon Nigerians to exercise patience and provide President Bola Tinubu’s administration with more time to effect transformative change across the nation.
Speaking at the Ireporteronline Nigeria Limited 50th Anniversary Public Lecture in Lagos, Minister Idris, representing President Tinubu, acknowledged the existing hardships faced by citizens but assured that the government was dedicated to addressing them promptly.
“President Tinubu is committed to delivering on his promises and improving the lives of all Nigerians. We understand the current pains and sufferings, and we are working tirelessly to bring about positive change,” Minister Idris affirmed.
He emphasized the necessity for patience, echoing the sentiments of Nobel laureate Professor Soyinka, who advocates for a year of assessment before judgment on any administration.
Minister Idris lauded President Tinubu’s bold initiatives, including subsidy removal and the implementation of the Oronsaye report, aimed at ushering in dividends of democracy for Nigerians.
However, the economic reforms instituted by the Tinubu administration, notably the fuel subsidy removal, have faced public criticism due to the resultant high costs of living and food inflation.
Defending these decisions, Minister Idris asserted, “The Tinubu administration has taken bold steps to turn the economy around for the benefit of all. While acknowledging the challenging times, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a prosperous nation.”
President Tinubu, in a recent visit to Akure, appealed for patience from Nigerians amidst economic hardships, assuring them of brighter days ahead.
The Ireporteronline Nigeria Limited’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, marked by various events including a public lecture and a photo exhibition, symbolize the newspaper’s resilience, trust, and dedication to the Nigerian project over the past five decades.
