Momodu Defends Atiku, Dismisses Pressure Over Obi-Kwankwaso Alliance

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Momodu insisted that Atiku remains firmly in the race and cannot be pressured out by political opponents or public opinion. He argued that the former vice president has invested significant effort and long-standing commitment into his political ambition and deserves the right to complete his pursuit.

Momodu further described ongoing campaigns urging Atiku to step down as coordinated and unfair, stressing that Atiku should not be undermined. He maintained that while he would not support any candidate who violates the constitution, Atiku has not acted outside the bounds of Nigeria’s laws.

Questioning the growing demand for Atiku to step aside in favour of Peter Obi, Momodu recalled the 2019 election, where Obi served as Atiku’s running mate under the Peoples Democratic Party, noting that the ticket was unsuccessful. He wondered why current political conversations appear to insist that only Obi should be prioritised for leadership.

He also cautioned against the increasing tendency to elevate any single politician as a “saviour,” warning that Nigeria has multiple capable leaders across different political platforms, including the ADC.

Momodu concluded by describing suggestions that Atiku should step down as disrespectful, reaffirming that supporting any candidate ahead of the 2027 elections remains a matter of personal political choice.
