According to industry insiders, Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has urged mothers to prioritise their personal well-being, cautioning against losing themselves in the demands of family life.

In a recent video post, Ogbodo showcased her physical transformation and encouraged women to invest in self-care. “Mums invest in yourselves too. You deserve to look good,” she stated.

The actress highlighted the emotional and physical challenges that often accompany motherhood, noting that constant care for children and partners can lead to fatigue, body image issues, and stress, while silently affecting confidence and mental health.

Ogbodo also warned that neglecting self-care may strain relationships. “It begins to affect your relationship. Communication shifts. Intimacy weakens. Distance grows. And sometimes… he, the man you’ve sacrificed everything for, walks away,” she said.

Emphasising the importance of maintaining identity, the actress advised mothers: “Motherhood should not cost you your identity. It should not cost you your mental health. And it should not cost you your worth. You are still a woman. You are still beautiful. You are still deserving of care, healing, and softness. Take care of yourself, too.”

She concluded with a message of empowerment, stating, “Because when a woman is whole, she shines — not just for others, but for herself.”
