Mutfwang’s Move To APC Will Enhance Political Stability – Dati

Speaking with journalists over the weekend, Dati said the governor’s alignment with the ruling party would place Plateau State in closer harmony with the federal leadership under President Tinubu, creating political stability and improved cooperation with the centre.

He explained that such a move would not only consolidate the APC’s political base but also expand the President’s influence ahead of the next polls, noting that defections by governors often come with wide political structures, including lawmakers, commissioners and grassroots leaders.

Dati emphasized that aligning with the centre provides what he termed “political comfort,” which he said is critical for driving development, strengthening governance capacity and enabling effective strategic negotiations at the national level.

He further stated that Governor Mutfwang’s decision would be beneficial to Plateau State, as it would ease access to federal resources, fast-track development initiatives and enhance the state’s influence in national policymaking.

According to him, the realignment would also help reduce partisan tensions, promote smoother governance and accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure and security projects, while positioning Plateau firmly within the mainstream of Nigeria’s political landscape.
