Mystery in Ogun as Naked Man Found Hanging From Tree in Ilishan-Remo

Panic gripped residents of Ilishan-Remo in Ogun State after the body of a naked man was found hanging from a tree in an undeveloped area of the New Market region.

According to local sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, the disturbing discovery was made on Saturday, June 7, 2025. A photograph seen by PUNCH Metro showed the unidentified man suspended by a rope tied around his neck in what is believed to be a case of suicide.

Startled by the sight, residents promptly notified the police. Officers from the Ogun State Command arrived at the scene alongside community leaders and health officials, who assisted in retrieving the body.

“Upon arrival, the authorities confirmed that the deceased was a nude male adult with no identification. The body was hanging in an undeveloped plot of land,” the source stated. “It was a horrific sight that left the community in shock.”

A senior police officer, who requested anonymity, confirmed that details of the incident had been forwarded to the Ogun State Police Command. However, official confirmation and comments are still being awaited from the state’s police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who had not responded to inquiries as of press time.

The eerie incident has rekindled memories of a similar case reported in 2018, when a half-naked man was also found hanged from a tree near EFAB Estate in Lokogoma, Abuja, under equally mysterious circumstances.

Police investigations are expected to uncover the identity of the deceased and clarify whether foul play may have been involved in the unsettling incident.
