Baring all unforeseen circumstances, the Olu of Warri-designate, Omoba ‘Tsola Emiko, would be crowned king come August 14, 2021.

This was made known in a terse statement made public, on Wednesday, and signed by Chief Samuel Amatotsero on behalf of the Central Working Committee (CWC).

The statement further has it that the coronation of the Olu-designate would be held at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri kindred.

The release also disclosed that the final burial rites of 20th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, who joined his ancestors in December 2020, would commence on June 11, 2021.

“Following the CWC meeting today (Wednesday), it was announced that the 11th of June 2021 is the official date for the start of the burial of His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli and the 14th of August 2021 has been marked as a tentative date for the coronation ceremony of Omoba Prince Tsola Emiko,” the one-paragraph statement read.

The 37-year-old Prince Emiko, who is the son of late Ogaime Atuwatse ll, the 19th Olu of Warri, had already begun the compulsory 90 days seclusion otherwise known as ‘Ale-jefun’ in Itsekiri which will precede the coronation rites.
