According to Ireporter Online, the wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has officially welcomed the first baby of the year 2026, marking a joyful start to the new year in the state.

The historic birth took place at the Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ukwa West Local Government Area, where a baby girl, Miss Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace, was delivered at exactly 12:43 a.m. on January 1, 2026. The newborn weighed 3 kilograms at birth.

To commemorate the occasion, Mrs. Otti visited the health facility and presented the mother and her baby with various support items, including bags of rice, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary materials, and a cash gift of One Million Naira. She explained that the gesture was intended to support the mother’s nutritional needs and promote her wellbeing during the nursing period.

The Abia First Lady, visibly delighted by the birth, also gave the newborn an additional name, “Ihuoma,” expressing optimism that the child would grow in peace, grace, and favour. She described the birth as a symbolic and hopeful beginning to the year, noting that it reflects the ongoing improvements and effectiveness of primary healthcare services across the state.
