NFF Hails President Tinubu For Fulfilling Promises To Super Eagles Players And Officials

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for honoring commitments made to the Super Eagles following their runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The promises, which included houses, national honours, and land allocations for players and officials, were officially fulfilled during a ceremony where title documents, certificates of national recognition, and land confirmations were handed over.

The event was attended by key figures including the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, a representative of the Presidency, Mrs. Nathan-Mash, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi and Hon. Kabiru Amadu, as well as NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Morocco.

Gusau described the gesture as a significant morale booster for the team, linking it to Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Tanzania in their opening match of the 35th AFCON finals in Morocco.

“We cannot thank His Excellency, Mr. President, enough for fulfilling the promises of national honours and houses for our players and officials. We also appreciate the Chairman and Director General of the National Sports Commission, as well as members of the Federal Executive Council for their contributions,” Gusau said.

He added that the formal presentation of title documents and certificates had positively impacted the spirit of the team, enhancing expectations for strong performances in upcoming matches. Nigeria secured three crucial points from their first match, but Gusau emphasized the need to maintain focus against Tunisia to ensure qualification for the Round of 16.

On the field, the Super Eagles delivered a spirited performance at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, with defender Semi Ajayi opening the scoring with a towering header, followed by a second goal from Ademola Lookman to seal the victory. This win has placed Nigeria in a favorable position as they prepare to face Tunisia in their next group stage match on December 27.
